Paris transport strike

Transport strikes are fairly frequent in Paris and the Paris region. Parisian are used to it and have to cope with it very regularly, which is note the case of visitors. The demands are varied (pensions, wages, safety, etc.) and negotiations are usually difficult between the unions and the management of RATP or SNCF. The consequences are the same every time: service frequencies are severely disrupted, and the car becomes the only way for users to get to work. Requests for taxi bookings then flood in at the last minute to the call centres, which are often overwhelmed... As a result, it is often difficult to make a booking because of lack of availability. Travelling to Orly or Roissy to catch your flight is also particularly problematic. It's best to plan ahead to avoid missing your flight. So here's our advice in the event of a transport strike in Paris.

Leave very early or late to avoid traffic jams

If possible, opt for car pooling or teleworking

The roads will be particularly busy. If you are travelling to work, try to set up a rotating car-sharing scheme with your colleagues. If you can, take a day off to work from home. As far as possible, choose addresses that are easy to get to, on roads that are not too busy.
