Where to take a taxi at Gare de l'Est? : The taxi rank is located on the forecourt opposite the main exit (Taxi rank location) in a courtyard adjacent to the busy rue du 8 Mai 1945. There are plenty of taxis but demand is high. If the queue is too long, you can go to another taxi rank nearby: the one at the Marie du Xème station or the one at the nearby Gare du Nord station (Paris taxi ranks map).
Meet and greet service
You can be met at the station by a driver who will display a name sign before taking you to the destination of your choice. This service can be booked through taxi centres, VTC companies (see above) or the iDCAB service which operates at Gare de l'Est. In all cases, a VTC or taxi driver will be waiting on arrival with a name sign.
Getting to Paris airports from the station
Of course, you can opt for a taxi cab to get to Paris Orly or Paris de Gaulle airports, but other means of transport are also available:
- For Roissy airport it is possible to take the RATP bus 350. Stop opposite the station. Fare: €2.5. This is undoubtedly the cheapest means of transport, but also the longest. It takes around 80 minutes to get to the right bank.
- You can also easily reach line B of the RER by going to Gare du Nord (400m walk). This line serves both Paris airports: Orly (via Antony and Orlyval) and Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle. Tickets cost from €11.80 to €14.50* depending on the airport.
- The metro line 14 now allows you to travel to Orly from Châtelet or Gare de Lyon. The specific ticket for this destination costs €10.30* one way.
